Transportation Specialist

Transportation Specialist is responsible for providing analytical support for transportation programs. Supports the company overseeing compliance with regulatory government agencies, auxiliary programs, as well as internal policies and procedures. Responsible for managing day to day activities for all modes of international shipments. Build and maintain a solid working relationship with all customers, freight forwarders, and functional teams within the company.

PRIMARY Responsibilities (Other duties as assigned)

  • Assist Transportation Manager in the development, negotiation and administration of transportation programs.
  • Create, maintain and distribute appropriate reporting to management on the frequency required (daily, weekly, monthly, etc.)
  • Provide specific analysis on transportation or supply chain initiatives.
  • Review shipment documents, resolving problems, record maintenance.
  • Request quotes for sea or air freight rates with freight forwarders, maintain quote log and keep track.
  • Coordinate shipments on a timely and cost-effective manner, taking ownership of shipments from beginning to end.
  • Coordinate with freight forwarders to obtain and update tracking information for customers.
  • Maintain regional trade lanes rates file updated.
  • Communicate with internal customer and other functional areas to resolve customer problems in a timely manner.

Skills/Requirements

  • 1-2 years of work related experience in transportation, logistics or supply chain is required.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is required.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to work independently.
  • Strong computer/technical skills (Microsoft Office, Outlook) Access is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills both English and Spanish.
  • Must be resourceful, flexible, organized, team-oriented & self-motivated.
  • Ability to handle various tasks simultaneously under pressure and demanding time constraints.
  • Knowledgeable on international regulations governing the safe handling, packaging and transportation of materials.
  • Knowledgeable on international trade documentation.
