The IT and Digital team at WESCO has an exciting opening for a fast paced, entrepreneurial, individual who has a focus on strategic sourcing, contracting and compliance and lean work methodology. This role interacts directly with business partners at every level in the organization working to manage our vendors. Through effective relationship management, this role will help develop, implement and manage procurement policies and procedures and drive strategic sourcing events to achieve synergies, savings and performance improvement throughout our IT vendors.

As the Director, VMO Software & Services for the IT and Digital teams, you will be responsible for the following. These responsibilities are intended to give you an idea of the role. As this function is growing, you can expect duties to be added or removed to meet the demands of the business, often without much notice.

  • Effectively develop, lead and recommend commercial and contracting procurement strategies working with other functional leads, while demonstrating strong ability to negotiate terms and conditions,
  • Identify and maintain relationships with major suppliers to ensure inclusion of the appropriate suppliers in the right opportunities for the maximum benefit,
  • Lead or coordinate sourcing events from submission of an RFQ to evaluating vendors and selecting finalists, and act as liaison with the Supply Chain team,
  • Financial acumen to develop complex financial models, including Total Cost of Ownership models,
  • Take lead and own cost savings initiatives,
  • Support VMO Lead by identifying and maintaining relationships with major suppliers and industry analysts gathering insight to better understand suppliers’ key differentiations, technology road-maps and business models with the goal of identifying opportunities to improve the overall quality and best pricing of products and services,
  • Identify opportunities for new vendors or vendor consolidation and develop suppliers that achieve Category specialty sourcing strategy,
  • Identify alternate/replacement vendors and prepare exit and transition strategies,
  • Build relationships with business leaders within the IT and Digital teams, as well as, business leaders outside of the IT and Digital space,
  • Develop and maintain vendor performance management metrics and KPI’s, analyze results and implement corrective action plans.

Required experience for this role:

  • 10+ years of demonstrated experience in supply chain/sourcing/category management roles with preference for IT or indirect procurement.
  • 5+ years of experience managing vendor performance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field of study, supply chain, engineering, computer science or equivalent from accredited university required.
  • CPM, CTPE certifications considered a plus.

  • Understand and integrate business strategies and trends in technology to deliver value
  • Strong communication skills in writing, speaking, and presenting
  • Solid understanding of IT, Corporate Functions and Finance assets and capabilities
  • Be able to identify gaps and areas that need improvement
  • Strong humility, listening, creativity, and negotiation skills
  • Ability and comfort with working at executive levels
  • Accept ownership

Physical Requirements:

  • Office based role. Generally comfortable setting with low noise and moderate physical demands.
  • Frequent sitting at desk. Use of office equipment.
  • Occasional lifting, walking, bending. Max lift demand 25lbs.
