Position: Credit Supervisor

The successful candidate will be responsible for an account’s receivable portfolio within our Electrical & Electronic OEM division. Performs credit, accounts receivable and collections functions. Responsible for maintaining professional relationships with internal and external contacts, including operations, sales and customers. Oversees department staff and supports team to achieve cash flow and operating expense goals, including days sales outstanding, past due percentage, bad debt expense, etc.

Detailed Description

  • Develop department / portfolio goals with manager. Manage execution, measure and report results.
  • Select, manage, evaluate and develop staff. Provide training, feedback and developmental opportunities.
  • Research and obtain appropriate credit information to rate credit worthiness of new and existing accounts. Make recommendations of credit limits above level of authority to Manager for approval.
  • Work cross-functionally with Sales, Operations, Finance, Contract Administration, and Customer Master Administration teams to gather and review documents (PO’s, Credit applications, etc.) and load into Contract Tracking Tool for approval by FS management and partners.
  • Work with FS management to determine the use of various credit instruments to mitigate risk (UCC filings, Liens, joint checks, letters of credit, payment bonds, guaranties, etc.).
  • Monitor past due invoices and make collections contact via phone, e-mail or customer portals. Use judgment as to frequency and nature of contact depending on customer payment history, industry (local construction company vs. national corporation), invoice amount, etc.
  • Report customer account collection status to FS management during periodic reviews; take necessary action after meeting to improve performance.
  • Participate in monthly Branch calls to review aged AR / disputes and progress towards resolution.
  • Work with the customer to determine root cause of dispute for unpaid or short-paid invoices. Identify and document detailed reason.
  • Maintain aggressive follow-up to ensure prompt resolution of disputes.
  • Perform complex account reconciliations, including research of unapplied cash / credits and unearned discounts.
  • Evaluate collectability of unearned cash discounts, finance charges, etc. and perform adjustments of uncollectable amounts within their level of authority.
  • Review orders on credit hold on a timely basis as to not delay shipments by evaluating credit worthiness of customers, including, open invoices, in process payments and backlog. Makes independent decisions to release orders on credit hold or escalate higher-risk customers to manager.
  • Depending on account assignment, assist with preliminary lien administration process and create and/or prepare Lien Waivers for approval.


  • Commercial credit industry experience
  • Ability to analyze financial data to determine creditworthiness/risk
  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities to meet deadlines and management objectives
  • Supervise department staff to maintain productivity and development
  • Knowledge of computer system applications: Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel, and Word
  • Strong written, oral communication and interpersonal skills with a positive disposition
  • Reliable with strong organizational skills and solution-oriented philosophy
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment; require
  • Strong attention to detail with a passion for accuracy
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and demonstrate a willingness to accept new challenges
  • Familiarity with order to cash cycle


  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, supply chain or business
  • Licenses/Certifications/Designations: NACM or similar; preferred
