Position: Global Account Manager (GAM)

Location: Canada (this position may be based out of any of our Canada offices, but preferably a location where other Electrical and Electronic Solutions employees are based)

Position Description:

Anixter is seeking inspired and highly entrepreneurial Global Account Managers to join our team. The role of the Global Account Manager is to develop, maintain, and/or expand relationships with Anixter’s Global Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM). The Global Account Manager represents Anixter’s range of Wire & Cable and electronics to its assigned list of OEM customers. This position will report to our Director of Global Accounts in the Global EES OEM division.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Establishes productive, professional relationships with key personnel in assigned customer accounts.
  • Coordinates the involvement of company personnel, including local outside sales reps, engineering and management resources, in order to meet account performance objectives and customers’ expectations.
  • Meets assigned targets for profitable sales volume and strategic objectives in assigned accounts.
  • Proactively leads an account planning process that develops performance objectives, financial targets, and critical milestones.
  • Proactively assesses, clarifies, and validates customer needs on an ongoing basis.
  • Leads solution development efforts that best address customer needs, while coordinating the involvement of all necessary company personnel.
  • Ensures that all future opportunities (pipeline) are entered into Anixter’s CRM tool known as CORE
  • Works effectively with others in a team based environment to accomplish organizational goals and to identify and resolve problems.

Your sales skills need be unrivaled, but it also helps if you have:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related major is preferred
  • 10+ years of outside sales experience in our industry is preferred; including experience managing and selling into large global accounts.
  • Ability to strategically manage large complex accounts and grow the territory
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Analytical, financial, and business acumen
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft suite of tools, including PowerPoint and OneNote-A confident and determined approach
  • Resilience and the ability to cope with rejection
  • Self-motivation and drive
  • A competitive streak
