Job Summary

We are looking for a District Sales Manager to join our OEM team, with a primary objective of leading an existing sales team in the Ontario Market. This individual will be responsible for working with the inside and outside sales team to motivate, coach and lead key sales strategies, manage/expand market share with new business and deliver year-over-year sales growth.

Job duties

  • Provide sales representatives with tools required for their success in managing their territory
  • Coordinate and organize regular sales meetings
  • Prepare and provide reports, as required
  • Prepare budgets for territory, set up special pricing on bids and authorize expenditures on product samples and invoice adjustments
  • Achieve and exceed quarterly/annual sales targets within assigned territory and accounts
  • Develop and execute strategic plan to achieve sales targets and to expand the company’s customer base
  • Build and maintain strong, long-lasting customer relationships
  • Partner with customers to understand their business needs and objectives
  • Effectively communicate the value proposition through proposals and presentations
  • Represent the company’s business policies in various conferences, trade fairs, and networking events to attract more clients
  • Maintain and develop our existing accounts
  • Seek out new customers and sales opportunities; Perform cold calls and prospecting and travel with sales representatives to key customer accounts
  • Manage all Outside and Inside Sales Representatives
  • Obtain contract pricing for customers and resolve customer complaints and issues as required
  • Manage and be actively involved with the coaching, mentoring, career development, training, and performance management of Representatives
  • Be actively involved in interviewing and hiring new sales representatives

Job Requirements

Experience & Education

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Business Administration (asset)
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in managing and building successful sales teams
  • Experience selling wire and cable solutions to End-Users and/or Contractors

Job-specific knowledge

  • Good knowledge of electrical wire and cable products (asset)
  • Good knowledge of electronic wire and cable products such as Category and fiber cables (asset)
  • Understanding of Industrial Control and Communications products (asset)
  • Good knowledge of Support & Supplies products such as connectors, terminations and trays
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
