JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Global Compliance Manager

 

Reports To: Vice President – Global Environmental, Health & Safety, Security


Job Summary: Plan, direct, or coordinate activities to ensure compliance with Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) regulatory standards. This would include conducting periodic internal reviews or audits to confirm that compliance procedures are followed. As well as providing updates to impacted locations and HSE team when there are changes to HSE regulations.


Essential Functions:

 

Environmental

·        Complete annual EPA SARA Tier II filing

·        Manage Minnesota Carbon Monoxide Program

·        Manage California Prop 65 Program

·        Review environmental testing reports and make recommendations

·        Provide guidance on asbestos and mold, coordinate testing as needed and work with Human Resources and management on employee communications

 

Hazardous Materials

·        Manage OSHA 300 database, create reports and distribute summaries annually

·        Oversee DOT compliance with packaging and shipment of hazardous materials

·        Audit locations for current Safety Data Sheets e.g. transformer paint and provide research assistance as needed

·        Work with applicable locations to put Battery Safety Program in place and ensure the program meets local, state/provincial, federal requirements

 

Compliance Databases

·        Manage IS Networld database to ensure customer grade requirement

·        Manage UK Legal Register database

·        Coordinate location response for insurance risk reports

 

General Duties

·        Provide guidance on environmental and safety laws, regulations, and language as it relates to state, provincial & federal requirements

·        Review existing compliance procedures to ensure adherence

·        Identify, develop and distribute new procedures to ensure compliance with regulations and guidelines

·        Work with the Internal Audit team on internal investigations of compliance issues

·        Manage certification of equipment e.g. respooling machine calibration (Canada), powered industrial trucks (United Kingdom)

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience. Current certification in IATA Dangerous Goods preferred.

 

Skills/Abilities/Knowledge:

·        Proficient in Microsoft Office

·        Ability to work in a fast paced, high volume environment

·        Possess presentation skills

·        Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interface with all levels of personnel

·        Ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities

·        Capable of working under pressure and meeting timelines

·        Ability to respond with a sense of urgency, shift gears as needed

 

Physical Requirements:

·        Ability to stand, crouch, kneel, sit for an extended period

·        Must be able to perform repetitive movements on a PC

·        Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. to carry material

·        Willingness to travel including overnight and weekends, as needed
