Position Summary: The Continuous Improvement Industrial Engineer will utilize leadership, experience and expertise in lean principles and industrial engineering concepts to optimize process workflow and eliminate non-value-added effort. The position drives results-oriented performance improvement initiatives using proven methods, such as Lean and Six Sigma. The Industrial Engineer identifies key opportunities and gaps in the core business systems & business processes; aligns with other key participants, and leverages improvement methods, tools and techniques to eliminate waste (including costs).
This position requires a balance between strategic thinking and tactical implementation, and the ability to analyze critical performance data to drive improvement. The key objectives of this position are labor cost reduction, implementation of lean in support of the daily work management system, business analytics, network optimization, workflow improvements, improved efficiency, reduction of waste in distribution centers.
Responsibilities:

  • Executes continuous improvement strategies by translating business objectives into actionable projects.
  • Acts as a change agent around continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Identify operational improvement opportunities, quantifying and developing the value proposition, developing strategies to achieve opportunity objectives, and driving implementation of the strategies into execution with solid project management using Lean Principles.
  • Lead Kaizen and continuous improvement projects.
  • Develop Lessons Learned and Best Practice systems, policies and procedures to leverage knowledge across the network.
  • Work closely with the Operations Business Intelligence Team to develop supporting reports to Daily Management System.

 

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in industrial engineering.
  • 3 + years of experience focused in Lean Practice and Problem Solving.
  • Highly proficient in use of Microsoft Office software, including Access, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • High degree of self-motivation and organization planning, with the ability to drive projects to completion.
  • Excellent quantitative and analytical skills with an aptitude for problem solving
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt highly preferred.
  • Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule in a team-based environment to meet organizational goals.
  • Expertise in Power BI or Tableau.

  • Hands on and ability to spend time on the floor working with Associates and Management.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to develop positive relationships across all levels of the organization is essential.
  • Excellent time management, communication, organizational and multi-tasking skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handling various tasks and changing priorities, while maintaining a high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a cross-discipline team environment.
  • Excellent quantitative and analytical skills with an aptitude for problem solving Strong problem solving and creative skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analysis.
