Global Sourcing Manager

Primary Function: 

The Global Sourcing Manager is responsible for the rapid identification of customer-specified, project-related products from qualified and capable suppliers, at the optimal cost. This highly visible role requires agile collaboration within a matrixed organizational structure and strong communication skills to ensure delivery of internal revenue, profitability, expense, and operating earnings targets are achieved. Will also provide direction on ways to improve the organization through continuous improvement, and alignment amongst the global organization to achieve best overall results and value to the business.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage the productivity/efficiency aspects of the sourcing process to maximize order conversion, quote response cycle time, and operating earnings

  • Strong understanding of market dynamics, supplier capabilities, and customer requirements at both regional and global levels

  • Capable of negotiating complex global agreements across strategic vendors and suppliers

  • Implement strategic sourcing strategies to optimize costs and ensure continuity of supply, ensuring cost-efficient supply of critical items

  • Drive the integrated supply chain process to ensure continuous improvement in supplier quality, delivery, and cost performance

  • Ensure the necessary controls, budgets, policies, and procedures are in-place to optimize Sourcing’s contribution to the business plan and effectively utilize project resources

  • Leverages strong project management and change management skills to drive continuous improvement from project inception to project delivery       

  • Participate in cross-functional improvement and process design initiatives/teams

  • Manage relationships with internal customers, external partners, and third-party suppliers

  • Regularly interface with Sales and Services team members and leaders  

  • Ensure the engagement of key stakeholders and build relationships at the senior management level concerning enterprise wide sourcing strategy and manage the program to support those goals and objectives.  Interact consistently with stakeholders to further integrate sourcing initiatives throughout the company.


Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • 7-10 years of broad sourcing experience, preferably across a large, multi-location global business

  • Proven results in managing and implementing sourcing strategies

  • Ability to conduct supplier research, create market baskets, and execution of RFPs

  • Working knowledge and experience of Supply Chain Planning suites such as SAP/ Oracle.  (Preference for Oracle Supply Chain Suite) and Sourcing Applications such as Ariba, Bravo, Jaeger.

  • Empowered to influence key decisions impacting every aspect of Sourcing activity which drive superior service, sales growth, customer/supplier relationships, and operating earnings

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to partner with people throughout the organization

  • Strong financial, quantitative, and analytical skills; experience with business and supplier performance reporting

  • Ability to create and execute a vision, as well as an ability to work within larger organizational objectives - talented “critical thinker” with the ability to challenge current thinking and present innovative solutions that promote the company’s interests

  • Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal and presentation skills; comfortable and credible with both internal stakeholders and external audiences

  • A flexible, dynamic, self-demanding and proactive individual - able to motivate him/herself and others; easily accepts constructive input from others
