Summary of role

Demand & Supply planning at Anixter are accountable forecasting activities associated with customers and products and the subsequent effectiveness of inventory across the EMEA region with a key focus on maximising the return on investment and service to our customers. The purpose of the role is to build a forward visibility of future customer requirements and set policies to guide purchasing decisions and control to achieve overall inventory to targets. Working as part of the Inventory Management team they are accountable for supporting 22 countries and 15 stocking locations.


The role engages closely with key internal and external stakeholders - Sales, Marketing, Operations, Finance, Suppliers and Customers requiring strong analytical, influencing and commercial skills. We are looking for people with a customer focused way of looking at complex issues and solving them. People that can work closely with others to mitigate risk and establish solutions that will transition us into the future.


Main responsibilities/Key goals


·         Manage and maintain the creation of an accurate demand plan in support of the sales forecast for defined sales markets / customers across the EMEA region.

·         Engage with other business functions to create a consensus customer/country forecast.

·         Deliver forecast accuracy improvements against defined KPI’s through collaboration with key stakeholders.

·         Validate demand and sign off on the purchasing of large inventory investments for project related business; set the inventory strategy for such projects and co-ordinate authorisation and the effective supply plans to meet project demand deadlines.

·         Maintain day-to-day communication with sales and other groups on the progress and status of major projects.

·         Monitor Inventory levels and provide mitigation plans and then drive actions when necessary.

·         Develop, analyse and communicate a monthly, quarterly and annual quantity and revenue forecast to drive a S&OP process.

·         Manage the group policy tables in relation to given sales markets / customers to maximise inventory efficiencies through the optimisation of system settings such as safety stock levels, Re-order points etc…

·         Responsible to the business for key inventory measures such as Turn, Stock Health, Inventory provisions and inventory to budget.

·         Support the company transition from its current ERP to Oracle Value Chain Planning in conjunction with Anixter Global centre of Excellence team and other business partners.


Necessary skills, knowledge and experience:


·         Demand/Supply Planning experience required.

·         Credentials of working with high SKU counts, multiple suppliers and customers across geographies.

·         Experience of S&OP principles and methods is highly desirable.

·         Experience of project lead demand planning desirable

·         Microsoft Excel, Access, Power BI and data manipulation skills with the demonstrated ability to process into tangible outputs, recommendations and actions.

·         Sound commercial and business acumen.

·         Prior experience in communication infrastructure, security technology, wire and cable or other electrical/electronic products desirable, but not essential.

·         Strong written and verbal communication skills with an ability to create and deliver presentations to stakeholder groups under “key relationships.

·         Knowledge of Oracle Value Chain Planning or other recognised demand planning systems.

·         Fluent in English but Spoken and written languages other than English would be helpful (but not essential).

Special conditions:


·         Early start and late finish.

·         Occasional travel to supplier / customer premises and Anixter Sales locations across EMEA.

·         May have to provide cover during one of the bank holidays where indicated.


Tools and equipment used:


·         Laptop Computer.

·         Microsoft Office Suit.

·         Mainframe moving to an Oracle ERP platform.


Qualifications/education required:


·         Degree level educated, ideally in business, economics, finance.

·         Supply chain qualifications like MCIPS or working to achieve MCIPS is desirable.
