Position Purpose:
Serves as the single point-of-accountability for mid-sized capital/major customer projects. Responsible for supervising the inside customer support team and all materials management activities throughout the project life cycle. Manages individual projects ranging from low to moderate complexity (degree of difficulty, level of risk, contracting strategy, and stakeholder engagement) and lasting from several weeks to one year.


Responsibilities include:

- Responsible for all materials souring and procurement activities both directly or by leading an internal team, including sourcing, procurement, long lead time item procurement, and expediting. Ensures products are approved and within customer specifications. Responsible for product delivery coordination either directly or by leading an internal team of coordinators.
- Develops relationships with key customer and/or contractor stakeholders. Represents Anixter at key customer and/or vendor meetings. Initiates and implements new methodologies, processes, and procedures that will support customers’ long-term and short-term goals.
- Develops, executes, and maintains the materials project management plan for each assigned project, including effectively communicating customer safety and delivery protocol to all operational and logistical team members, job scheduling and date management, reviewing bill of materials, and coordinating material pipelines.
- Assesses team resource loads; makes and manages appropriate individual assignments. Allocates appropriate resources to ensure all material needs are supplied within committed a timeframe. Manages internal resource pool based on work load for each vertical. Adjusts resources as required.
- Maintains communication with upper management both within and across organizations to ensure efficient operations of all projects undertaken by the team. Establishes and nurtures positive relationships with all customer points-of-contact.
- Manages the internal part of material governance "gate" reviews and quality assurance procedures; proactively identifies materials risk and mitigation plans, monitors project statuses, recognizes negative trends and project material budget variances, and establishes corrective actions.
- Maintains all material or purchase requests for internal/external audit purposes; determines appropriate revenue recognition, ensures timely and accurate invoicing, and monitors receivables for projects. Reviews and resolves any material invoicing discrepancies with the customer in a timely manner. Accurately forecasts material costs and communicates cost summaries to customer project managers and construction supervisors.
- Manages assigned team of project coordinators; provides leadership, direction, and coaching to team members on project-specific tasks and individual professional development.


We are looking for candidates with:

- Familiarity with electric utility power delivery systems equipment and processes.
- Demonstrated effectiveness in both written and verbal communication.
- Knowledge and basic understanding of construction-related materials and their uses.
- Has a working knowledge in project/program management.
- Engineering economic skills preferred.


Environmental requirements:
- Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
- Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
- Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
